Ps3 stuck on updating
Ps3 stuck on updating - dating directg
Did it do this from the get go, or after you formatted the hard drive? Hmm...it go to the ps3 screen and then pop up and say this? and when i put another hard drive in it's just turns itself off . the nand have to be flash and I can't use the e3 flasher on it because it only works on the nor system chips correct ?
You need to make a folder in your usb stick called "PS3" and within that folder, a "UPDATE" folder, it must be in capital letter for the name. (If you have problems with this step, visit 2) Plug in "New/Temporary" hard drive into ps3 (For Slim - Theres a cover under the ps3 that you pop off and theres a screw that you have to screw off in order to access the hardrive For Fat - I think theres a cover on the side, im not sure i dont have the fat) 2) Boot into safe mode (Press and hold onto the power button untill you hear the double beep, then let go of power button), follow on screen instructions, and select update firmware.
#7: At recovery menu, pick ONLY option "RESTORE PS3 SYSTEM" (i think #5) #8: Answer all the appearing prompts, for lang./date/time/internet, etc. I currently have 3 rsod consoles at my house I have been playing with.
#9: You now should have a working PS3 again running on the older firmware At this stage, you can decide to try the update again, but if it fails, again you need to throw away the HDD, and get another one, or use your PC to ZERO-FILL it to get back into the recovery menu, after setting up the ZERO-FILLed HDD on another older firmware PS3. If it is a NAND console that has rsod, then you have a better chance of fixing it, because it is more than likely a flash issue, not a hardware issue.
I will try and help you by looking around for things it could be. I think you can use the e3 linker on NAND, but I am not 100% sure.
Ideally it should finish the update just checking to make sure there is a hard drive, and then after the update it would come up and say this hard drive needs to be formatted. I currently have 3 rsod consoles at my house I have been playing with.

That site you linked to me in the pm said that he changed the power supply for this issue and it usually works.

It could be the 3.56 bug, but that was caused by changing hard drives or fully formatting the original hard drive while on 3.56. It is for nor consoles, unless you solder the e3 linker in.
Did the hard drives you have work on other consoles? what firmware where you on, and what firmware where you trying to go to? i brought this system broken and no the system never been open at all .

If you dont have either, then youre outta luck or you gotta try the other ways posted around the forum.
